Madcap workshops are offered year-round and include a variety of arts experiences. Whether your group or school hosts a workshop at your location or travels to our studio, children will enter the world of puppetry through hands-on activities that touch imaginations, inspire creativity and leave a lasting appreciation for the world of art.
Workshops at Your Location
(Grades K-6. Maximum 25 children per workshop. Suitable for schools, after-school programs, libraries, camps, scout groups.)
Workshop activities vary widely depending on the objectives and size of the group. Children may learn storytelling techniques, types and styles of puppetry, puppet manipulation, world literature and cultures, theatre and fine arts. You also can choose a puppet-building workshop where each child will create his or her own masterpiece puppet to take home. Workshops can be booked individually or over a half day or full day.
Workshops in Our Studio
(Grades K-6. Maximum 25 children per workshop. Suitable for after school programs, scout troops, school field trips. 90 minutes long.)
Children begin their workshop with a tour of the Madcap studio in Cincinnati, Ohio, including the puppet-building and set-construction shops, and the puppet, costume and prop storage areas. The group then gathers to build puppets, and afterward, children get to experience a short performance in which they may be chosen to participate.
Professional development, training programs and university residency programs are also available on request. Please contact Mel for more information.
