your eyes and slowly rub the lamp. Suddenly the magic begins.
Smoke twists and rises from the lamp and a giant genie appears.
Make a wish and maybe it will be granted.

| Listen.
There is a tap at the window…bright wings flutter as
two elves sneak into the shoemaker’s shop. Tiny fingers
fly as the elves work through the night constructing dozens
of pairs of new shoes and then, just as quietly disappear.
So begins The Elves and the Shoemaker
a new puppet play continuing Madcap’s long tradition
of adapting fairy tales for new audiences. In this puppet
production black lights are used to illuminate the puppets
in a way that make the puppeteers invisible to the eye.
At the end of this performance, the puppeteers explain and
demonstrate the specific technique they use to produce the
puppet illusion.
